Do I need a visa to enter Bali?
Australian passport holders receive Visa on Arrival (VoA) valid for 30 days, with the option to extend once for another 30 days. You pay the fee (~$40) at the immigration desk at Ngurah Rai Airport, or pre-purchase online at
evisa.imigrasi.go.id to skip the queue. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
What currency should I bring?
Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). As of mid-2025, $1 AUD ≈ 10,500 IDR. ATMs dispense Rupiah - withdraw at reputable bank ATMs (BCA, Mandiri, BNI) rather than standalone machines. Avoid airport exchange counters if possible. Most beach clubs and restaurants accept cards, but smaller warungs and local shops are cash only.
Is the water safe to drink?
No - drink bottled water only. This includes avoiding ice at smaller local spots (beach clubs and hotels are fine). Brush your teeth with bottled water to be safe. Bali belly is real and will ruin your trip - pack electrolyte sachets and keep Imodium handy just in case.
What are the dress code themes?
Two themed days. Yacht day (Sunday) is all white - linen, bring your best beach-club whites. Savaya (Monday) is ocean blues - aquas, teals, navy, anything water. Savaya also enforces its own smart-casual rule at the door: no singlets, boardies or thongs - linen shirts, nice shorts or trousers, summer dresses all good. Bring swimmers to Savaya too in case of a dip.
Yacht day - what if I don't snorkel?
All good. The yacht has SUP boards, karaoke gear and fishing rods on deck, plus tunes and the views from the water are the main event regardless. Lunch is on land at Toya Pakeh/Ped, and the afternoon stop at Lago Pontoon is a floating bar - you don't have to get in the water once if you don't want to.
What if I get seasick on the yacht?
Take seasickness medication (Kwells, Travacalm, or ginger tablets) the night before AND the morning of the yacht day. The crossing to Nusa Penida can be choppy depending on conditions. Stay on deck, look at the horizon, and avoid going below. Most people are fine once we reach calmer waters.
What's the WiFi like at the resort?
Mu Bungalows has WiFi, though speeds can vary. For reliable connectivity, get an Indonesian travel eSIM via Airalo, Holafly or Saily before you fly - download the app and it activates on arrival. Cheaper and easier than buying a physical SIM in Bali. This is the move for navigation, Grab/Gojek, and staying in touch without burning through international roaming.
What if I miss the group transfer or get lost?
Don't panic. Download Grab and Gojek before you leave Australia - they work from the moment you land. Both apps accept credit cards so you don't even need local cash. Add the trip organiser's number to your contacts and message the group WhatsApp chat.
Will there be a surprise engagement for Nikita and Jase?!
👀 - not this time! But maybe a rehersal for next year...
